First Generation
William BALL (b. 1615 - d. 1680) London, England. Came to America in 1650. Settled at the mouth of Coroteman River, Lancaster County, Virginia, where he built his manor house, "Millenbeck". He was a merchant and planter; plantation owner of several hundred acres of land and many slaves. He was a member of the House of Burgess from 1670 - 1680. Married in London July 2, 1638 to Hannah ATHEROLD (b. 1620 - d. 1695). Daughter of Thomas ATHEROLD of London England.
Second Generation
William BALL (b. 1641 - d. 1694) born in London, England. Came to America with parents at the age of 9 years. Married 1675 to Margaret DOWMAN of "Marattico", Lancaster Co., Virginia (b. 1643 - d. 1699). He was Justice of Peace in 1680; House of Burgess 1685; and appointed to lay off boundary between Lancaster and North Cumberland Counties 1687.
Third Generation
Samuel BALL (b. 1686 - d. 1751) Culpepper County, Virginia. Married 1717 to Anne Catherine TAYLOR (b. 1688 - d. 1751). He was Vestryman of St. Marks Parish, Culpepper Co. Virginia. Brother of Joseph BALL, grandfather of George Washington.
Fourth Generation
William BALL (b. 1718 - d. 1785) Culpepper County, Virginia. Married 1741 to Martha BRUMFIELD, Fouquia County, Virginia, (b. 1721 - d. 1793). First cousin of Mary BALL, George Washington's mother.

Fifth Generation
Captain John BALL (b. 1742 - d. 1817) Stafford County, Virginia. Married 1767 to Sara Ellen PAYNE (b. 1745 - d. 1826). Captain John BALL was recommended by the county clerk of Fouquia co. on Oct 25, 1779. See "Virginia Militia in the Revolutionary War", by Joseph Thompson McAllister. "McAllister's Data", Section 261 - page 199. Captain BALL owned valuable iron works and furnished supplies that were of great service during the Revolution (see "Hayden's Military Record). Captain BALL also gave much material and financial assistance toward the expense of the war and rendered great service toward establishing American Independence. He was a second cousin of George Washington and served on his staff. His father, William BALL, being a first cousin of Washington's mother, Mary BALL.

Sixth Generation
John BALL (b. 1775 - d. 1844) Culpepper County, Virginia; removed to Kentucky 1810 and settled near Grahampton. Married 1794 to Ailicy WITHERS of Fouquia county, Virginia (b. 1778 - d. 1850). John BALL was a millwright and erected the old stone cotton mill which still stands at Grahampton, on the highway between Louisville and Henderson. This mill has been open every day since its erection, more than a hundred years age.

George Louis BALL (b. 1809 - d. 1888). Resided in Breckinridge County, Kentucky. Married 1832 to Mary JOLLY (better known as Aunt Polly), Breckinridge County, Kentucky. (b. 1812 - d. 1894) Farmer. Born on a farm between Tiptop and Grahampton, same year Abraham Lincoln was born, 1809.

Eighth Generation
Thomas Jefferson BALL (b. 1842 - d. 1888) Breckinridge County, KY. Married 1866 to Judith Alice DEJARNETTE Breckinridge County, (b. 1845 d. 1909). Thomas Jefferson BALL was a veteran of the civil war, in which he served 4 years and 4 months. Farmer and tobacco dealer.

In addition to the service rendered by our great-great-grandfather, Captain JOHN BALL, our great-great-grandfather, JAMES C. MOORMAN was the great-grandfather and for whom our grandfather JAMES C. DEJARNETTE was named, Also rendered material aid and assistance toward the winning of the Revolution and establishing American Independence.

The county spelling for Fouquia is really Fauquia County.
A book, "A Pennsylvania Pioneer", list this lineage as a result of probate hearings for the estate of John Ball of Pennsylvania. He died in 1820 and his estate was settled in 1900.
